What Day of the Week is My Regular Day of Worship and Rest

For me Sunday is both the Christian Sabbath and Lords Day.  It is the day I choose to regularly have my holy convocation with those with whom I assemble and the day I choose to avoid “work” whether observance of the Sabbath is commanded by God or not for it is certainly good for me and society (Leviticus 23:3; Exodus 20:8-11)

I do so since the Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath and the Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27-28). I do so because my workweek has always begun on Monday and unless one considers New Moon indicators the Sabbath in scripture is not conclusively based on a calendar day but rather the seventh day after six days of work.

Moreover I don’t trust any human to have accurately passed down calendars so as to align with the biblical calendar of Gen 1 through Gen 2:3 and/or of Exodus 12 whether traditional Jew, Hebrew Israelite, Catholic, Baptist, Seventh Day Baptist, Seventh Day Adventist, or other Christians.

Outside of the New Moon indicators of Exodus 12:2, Exodus 16:1-30 and Ezekiel 46:1-3, I find no biblical basis for conclusively (not human speculative reasoning) determining the Sabbath in this day using the Bible. I find the New Moon indicators in these times to be dependent on humans I am unwilling to trust for my soul salvation. I also find the New Moon indicators to be largely unworkability in modern employment conditions. Therefore, at this time I do not consider New Moon indicators to be a viable solution to the issue.

The issue of the Sabbath has been debated by well intentioned Christians since at least the 2nd Century. I suspect it will be debated until the end time arrives.

I find my comfort in Col 2:16 and Romans 14:5 and I will trust Jesus to judge me righteously and with truth not speculation.  I will trust him above trusting any human on this earth.

Although Sunday is my regular day of community worship assembly and rest, I do not find it problematic for those such as Seventh Day Baptist or Seventh Day Adventist or Hebrew-Israelites and others who choose Saturday as their regular day of rest and community assembly for worship.

Note that in this formulation I give no consideration to what Catholics did or do or may have done or will do with regards to how they view Saturday and Sunday religiously nor how Jews and/or Hebrew Israelites or Seventh Day Baptist or Seventh Day Adventist or anyone else view Saturday and Sunday religiously.

Given all the confusion and conflicting and contradictory claims by those who claim to know,  all of which cannot be solely right, I have decided this formulation satisfies my conscience concerning my relationship with my God (Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit), again consistent with my view of Col 2:16 which I know there is controversy even concerning what it means.

This formulation is rooted in one simple biblical concept:  work 6 days and take at least one day off for holy convocation and physical rest. I surrender my soul to my God not to human beings.
